Welcome, I’m Annette and here’s a bit about me…
Newcastle, NSW is my home town and I’m passionate about France, all things French, travelling and writing. My awesome three kids and husband accept I’m an incorrigible Francophile and just join in!
Being true Francophiles and loving all things French, in 2009 we bought a family holiday home in a rural farming village deep in Brittany.
Since then, we have returned to spend school holidays in France, getting to know our rich and colourful neighbours, our local region and beyond. Not to mention the odd visit to Paris or two.
Right here with us you can:
- Get travel tips and ideas on visiting France and Paris
- Find out what French activities are on around Australia and in France (what’s on)
- Learn basic French and find learning resources
- Find mouthwatering traditional and modern French recipes
- Read reviews of French art, books and films that we have seen or read.
We will also share our story of why, how and what. Why we bought the house, how we did it and what we do with it now. You will learn how you can too! Our site was born out of a desire to share our finds and experiences with fellow Francophiles.

Annette, I adore your stories and photos of life in France. Would that I could experience that for even a few months of my life and rekindle my lost French language. My husband and I had planned to spend some time in Loire Valley a few years ago but life got in the way. Your stories keep that dream alive. Thank you.
Congrats on pursuing your dreams! I've always wanted to live internationally and I'm inspired to continue thinking on those possibilities after reading your post.
