Alsace is neatly tucked into the northeast corner of France and enjoys a unique identity due to the cultural influence of its neighbour Germany. Let's take a brief look at what the region of Alsace has to offer and why you might like to add it to your French travel itinerary. Alsace is a region with lots to offer any visitor including a large motor transport museum that will excite any transport enthusiast. The Musée National de l'Automobile (national car museum) in Mulhouse has an impressive 400 plus cars on display that make up the most prestigious collection of its kind in the world. The museum is also called the Cité de l' Automobile, so when looking for more information, be aware that these two names belong to the same museum. There are approximately an additional 200 vehicles kept in the museum storerooms. You'll find the world's largest collection of Bugattis here and over 520 historic vehicles in total. If you enjoy visiting vineyards, La Route des Vins d'Alsace might interest you. If you follow this vineyard and winery route you'll come across the pretty wine villages of Ribeauville and Turckheim tucked deep amongst the Alsace vineyards. At Château de Haut-Koenigsbourg visitors can step back through eight centuries of the region's fascinating history while the Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg is one of the finest examples of high Gothic architecture in the world.
