French Film Festival 2017 – Film Reviews

Have you ever done a movie marathon?  Do you think it means numerous films one after the other or just a lot of films over a short period of time? The French Film Festival was my movie marathon this year.

This year I decided to go to every film of the Newcastle Alliance Français Film Festival. So without checking what the films were about I purchased tickets for every film and hoped for the best!  My weekend was free as my husband took our two boys away for a sporting event, so with time to myself I attended each movie with just enough time between films to catch a bite to eat for lunch and dinner.

2016 French Film Festival

The 2016 French Film Festival has started in Sydney and will continue to tour many Australian capital cities. A reminder of the dates is below and I recommend you pre-purchase your tickets as many sessions are a sell out. The festival is organised by the Alliance Francaise and they have a lot to offer, memberships, lessons and events through out the year.

Sydney French Film Festival 2015 Extended

You missed the Sydney French Film Festival did you? Don’t panic – due to its overwhelming success it has been extended. Check out the further options for catching a dose of French cinema in Sydney this year.

If you are learning to speak French, watching French films like the French kids classic War of the Buttons and the films featured in the Film Festival is a great way of hearing the spoken word in context.  Our wonderful French tutor of the Newcastle Alliance Francaise strongly recommends watching French films and French News broadcasts to broaden our understanding of the French people and learn the language quicker.
