Mont Saint-Michel is breathtaking and inspiring and welcomes over 3 million visitors a year and in this podcast I share a full travel guide to this incredible location in Normandy, France. In 2023 the Mont celebrated its 1,000 year old birthday. I've visited this extraordinary beautiful island and abbey a number of times as we only live just over 1.5 hours drive away.

However, when I read in my local paper about its 1000 year milestone, I turned to my mum and said "Let's do it, how about I take you to Mont Saint-Michel and we stay over night?" She said "Yes", so we did. On this impromptu trip to Normandy and Mont Saint-Michel, it was delightful to show my mum around this incredible UNESCO world site and explain the history as we wandered the narrow cobbled streets, ate mussels in white wine at a cafe perched on the ancient thick stone wall, and squelched our toes in the muddy shores of the abbey watching the sun set over the grazing sheep.
