Paris is alluring, stylish, artistic, beautiful and deservedly one of the most visited places on the planet but if you were to ask me what I love most about this city that I've visited more times than I can count, my answer would be ... the French people and the wonderful little exchanges or moments that I've experienced with them.
Maybe I should be espousing the glamour of Napoleon III's apartments in the Louvre or the stunning fragrant roses in the Palais Royal Jardin, but honestly for me it's the more simple things. Having a well planned guide or travel itinerary is a good idea, but I find my best experiences are those that surprise me and often pull at my heart strings. This essential guide to packing for a trip to Paris, or anywhere in France, comes from my experience of over 19 trips to France and even more trips to numerous international countries either alone, with my husband or with our three children in tow.

While living in Brittany we’ve visited Paris many times and her beauty always amazes us. Touring France in a classic French Citroen 2CV – the ‘Tin Snail’
More French than a baguette is the Deux Chevaux or French Citroen 2CV which is also known affectionately as the ‘tin snail’. There is no disputing the enduring popularity of this iconic French classic car. My love affair with this little car has developed over the years I have been visiting France and I always look out for them when touring around the country.
If you too have a love of the ‘tin snail’ then here’s a brief article on the car and where you can find tours and hire vehicles in France.
If you want to enjoy this classic car when in France there are a number of car rental agencies and tour operators that specialise in 2CVs. Snail’s Pace Holidays is one company: they suggest you pack a picnic, roll back the roof and enjoy driving around the beautiful South West of France at a snail’s pace.
